This page covers several points that instructors and studio users should be aware of when using the Faculty of Education’s central teaching and learning studios.
Please take a moment to review the following information:
- Use of the teaching and learning studios is governed by UBC Policy #104, Responsible Use of Information Technology Facilities & Services .
- NO drinks or food allowed near the computers. Please enforce this while your class is in the teaching and learning studio. Damage to equipment has occurred, affecting the operation of the studio.
- Effective August 25, 2014, a teaching and learning studio account is no longer required to access the facilities — users log in using their Campus-Wide Login (CWL) account. In case of login issues, a temporary class set of accounts will be provided to instructors via email before their booking.
- As per the Vision of the Teaching and Learning Studios, only one of the two rooms, between Scarfe 1006 & Scarfe 1007 is bookable at any one time to ensure that space is available for drop-in student use.
- As per the Principles of Use outlined in May 2018, during the months of September and October of 2018, booking preference is given to workshops and events that provide examples of teaching and technology integration in flexible environments; outside of September and October, booking preference is given to students using the space in a collaborative, creative way.
Students:
- Log in with your CWL using the format: cwl.stu
Example: smith.stu - If you are unable to login, please reset your CWL password at: cwl.ubc.ca/myAccount
It may take up to 15 minutes for your EAD access to the computer labs to be updated. Public computers are available in the Education Library on the main floor of the Neville Scarfe Building, or use any internet-connected computer or device. - Students do not need to book the room for group work; students should only book the room if they intend to use all of the space to capacity (or near it), or all the hardware at once.
- The Scarfe Teaching and Learning Studios are not silent study spaces
Instructors/Staff:
